The Psychedelic Germ is a highly responsive, shorter, wider surfboard with added features that make it ideal for innovative surfing.

The design concept of The Shred Sled model was used as the starting premise in the creation of the Psychedelic Germ. One of the key notable changes was the addition of displacement hull designed by both Hayden Cox and well-known Australian Naval Architect, Andy Dovell. The second key feature being the snowboard inspired side cuts.

Similar to that of a boat design, the hull softens the water flow through the entry of the board. It hits the ridge of the hull, and is dispersed into the single concave. When taking off late, this assists in planing through choppy water or helping to land critical manoeuvres.

The side cuts shorten the radius of turns, meaning the board will draw a much tighter arc. During bottom turns, it engages the 3 dimensional curve that the side cut creates, which draws the surfer up the wave face. This then transitions onto the inside rail which pulls the surfer around and back into the pocket with ease.

For a shorter and wider board that’s strikes the balance between performance and innovation, the Psychedelic Germ has all the features needed to bring a whole new dimension to surfing.

FutureFlex

Designed and patented by Haydenshapes founder Hayden Cox, FutureFlex is an affluent mix of modern custom designed materials and modern design innovation for high-performance surfing. The construction combines a stringer-less, high-density custom shaped EPS core laminated with biaxial fiberglass, epoxy resin and a parabolic carbon fiber frame. The carbon fiber frame within the laminate is the key to the performance vitality of the overall product. Designed to maximize speed and drive while minimizing twist, FutureFlex essentially stores and releases energy as the surfer transitions through a turn.

FutureFlex

In what brand founder Hayden Cox views as a more premium alternative to the traditional PU (Polyurethane Polyester) construction, PE combines a polyurethane foam core with high-grade timber stringer, which is laminated by hand using fiberglass cloth and a high quality epoxy resin. Haydenshapes opts to use Epoxy resin, PE construction for two key reasons. One, the optically superior brightening ingredient significantly enhances the whiteness of the board. Two, our exclusive epoxy is more flexible than polyester and maintains the lively flex pattern typically associated with a new board.
