GQ MOTY — Cast in Resin

Haydenshapes partnered with GQ to design and produce the official trophies for the GQ Men of the Year Awards

Cast from a custom resin refined specifically for this application, the form draws from a familiar moment in the ocean, when light passes through a wave, creating a brief teal glow. The material captures and refracts light, shifting in tone and depth with its environment.

Every trophy is cast and hand-finished individually. Subtle variations in tone, texture and internal structure ensure no two are the same. A reflection of both the material process and the individuals they represent.

The resin carries a distinct duality. Visually, it recalls glass — clear, fluid, luminous. In hand, it holds the weight and presence of stone. As light shifts throughout the day, so too does the object — refracting, deepening, and revealing new layers over time.
