SURFBOARD CARE GUIDE
Taking proper care of your surfboard ensures it stays in peak condition for longer. Follow these essential care tips to maintain performance and prevent damage.
1. Avoid Heat & Sun Exposure
Surfboards are highly sensitive to heat and prolonged sun exposure. To prevent damage:
- Never leave your board in a hot car, direct sunlight, or near heat sources.
- Excessive heat can cause delamination, yellowing, or warping of the foam core.
- Always store your board in a cool, shaded place.
Note: Damage caused by heat exposure is not covered under warranty. Haydenshapes is not liable for any damage caused by heat exposure, improper storage, or environmental conditions. It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure proper care of their board.
2. Foam Indentation & Pressure Dings
Indentations naturally develop over time, especially with high-performance materials like EPS and PU foam. While this does not affect functionality, you can minimize unnecessary damage by:
- Being mindful of foot placement and stance while riding.
- Storing and transporting your board carefully to prevent impact with hard surfaces.
Note: Pressure dings from normal use are not defects and are not covered under warranty. Riders should handle and store their board carefully to minimise unnecessary pressure damage.
3. Repair Dings & Cracks Immediately
Unrepaired dings can allow water to seep into the core, leading to permanent damage. Act quickly:
- For small dings: Use a UV-curing resin repair kit as soon as possible.
- For EPS core and epoxy laminate boards (FF & PE): Use epoxy-based UV resin.
- For PU laminate boards: Use polyester UV resin.
- For major damage: Take your board to a professional repair shop.
- DO NOT USE A DAMAGED BOARD UNTIL IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY REPAIRED.
Note: Water damage from unrepaired dings is not covered under warranty. Haydenshapes is not responsible for damage resulting from unaddressed dings, cracks, or water exposure. Surfboards require regular maintenance, and it is the rider’s responsibility to repair any damage promptly.
